Radio

Emelia has spent almost twenty years contributing personal essays, an advice column and even trying to find a soulmate for her dad on CBC Radio. Her rules: Always be personal. Ask the burning question.

Here are a few favourites from her long-running column at CBC’s The Sunday Edition:

Trying to be Good

…and the healing powers of lying, cheating, stealing and drugs.

For 7 years I wrote a blog called Trying to be Good. Long-form essays where I considered pop culture, feminism and my own imperfections. It got popular and was turned into a radio show of the same name. I produced and hosted TTBG live nightly from 7-10pm, interviewing my heros and asking them burning questions while my kids slept. Trying to be Good culminated in an audiobook. More than that, it’s a highly sound-designed movie for your ears.
